Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, distributed data applications using AWS and Databricks.
- Lead integration of GenAI and agentic AI technologies, including orchestration, graph workflows, RAG, search, and vector database patterns.
- Design end-to-end application architecture across AWS cloud, Databricks, data pipelines, storage, and governance.
- Implement security, compliance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability controls.
- Evaluate and communicate architectural tradeoffs involving scalability, reliability, cost, security, and operability.
- Mentor engineers and influence application development standards and best practices.
- Lead or support development teams from project definition through implementation and improve technical processes.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of IT-relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or 7 years without a bachelor’s degree.
- At least 4 years of full-stack application development experience using technologies such as Java, Python, and JavaScript.
- At least 3 years of experience with data structures, algorithms, and data stores.
- The broader qualifications request 10+ years of software engineering experience building data applications and 12+ years of IT-related full-stack application development experience with a bachelor’s degree.
- At least 5 years of experience designing distributed, event-driven, API-first systems with strong reliability and security postures.
- Strong expertise in LLM and GenAI ecosystems, including LangChain, LangGraph, RAG, search patterns, and vector databases.
- Experience with SQL, relational database design, NoSQL databases, AWS services, Databricks Lakehouse, and cloud security.
- Experience with Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, automated testing, build tools, development environments, debugging, root-cause analysis, and technical documentation.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification, or equivalent experience; other Azure or GCP certifications are also relevant.
- Experience supporting SOX, GDPR, or other regulated environments and leading or working on small to medium-sized development teams.
- Completed master’s or doctoral degrees may substitute for up to one or two years, respectively, of general IT-related experience.
