Responsibilities

  • Own escalated customer support issues from pre-production bring-up and characterization through production support.
  • Reproduce, isolate, and root-cause failures across processing subsystems, interconnect, memory, boot, firmware, software, and programmable logic.
  • Debug at register level using JTAG, boot-stage analysis, timing reports, serial console, ILA, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Integrate and configure SoC subsystems in Vivado and Vitis and generate device images, XSA hardware handoffs, and system device trees.
  • Build and customize Yocto-based embedded Linux images, including BSPs, device trees, kernel and rootfs configuration, recipes, and layers.
  • Develop and debug boot images, low-level embedded software, RTL test designs, automation, and hardware validation flows.
  • Analyze and tune performance across hardware/software boundaries and prove results through measurement.
  • Author customer-facing product guides, user guides, datasheets, tutorials, and technical findings.
  • Apply AI, LLM, and ML tools to identify design gaps, correlate test and log data, and improve debug, automation, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with design, IP, firmware, software, validation, and field teams and conduct technical reviews with customers.

Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on experience with FPGA/SoC platforms in silicon debug, applications, validation, or systems engineering across multiple device generations and product cycles.
  • Working knowledge of SoC architecture, processing subsystems, on-chip interconnect, DDR5/6, LPDDR5/6, OSPI, UFS, SD/eMMC, and programmable logic.
  • Experience debugging functional failures on real hardware using register-level JTAG, serial console, ILA, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Solid RTL fundamentals in SystemVerilog, Verilog, and/or VHDL; AMD/Xilinx FPGA experience and Vivado expertise are preferred.
  • Experience building and customizing embedded Linux with Yocto-based flows such as PetaLinux or Embedded Design Flow, or equivalent depth in OpenEmbedded, Buildroot, or AOSP.
  • Linux kernel and driver knowledge covering UIO and character drivers, interrupt routing, reserved memory, and real-time scheduling.
  • Strong C/C++ for embedded application and bare-metal programming, plus automation experience with Python, Tcl, and Shell.
  • Working knowledge of clocking, CDC, timing closure, and static timing analysis, with the ability to debug timing violations.
  • Experience with performance analysis and tuning or FPGA/SoC boot and configuration flows, including boot images, platform management firmware, secure boot, bootloaders, and runtime reconfiguration.
  • Demonstrated use of AI/LLM/ML tools in engineering workflows.
  • Strong technical writing, customer support, cross-functional collaboration, technical review, and communication skills.
