Responsibilities
- Lead validation and certification testing of third-party applications from platform integrity and security perspectives.
- Test application effects on firmware security, system stability, uptime, reliability, processing, memory, storage, file systems, APIs, and communication channels.
- Perform vulnerability analysis, security validation, runtime monitoring, and testing of untrusted code execution in embedded Linux environments.
- Validate interactions with controller firmware, operating systems, hardware interfaces, REST APIs, MQTT, CoAP, serial interfaces, and low-level protocols.
- Conduct network and protocol analysis using Wireshark and packet capture tools.
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks, CI-CD pipelines, and scripts for testing, monitoring, and security validation.
- Define application acceptance criteria and certification standards, document findings and outcomes, and identify risks from third-party code.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and external partners on secure integration practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote embedded QA and security testing best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of QA experience with embedded systems, firmware, or IoT devices.
- Strong understanding of Linux-based embedded systems, system-level testing, and hardware/software/firmware constraints.
- Experience with resource monitoring, benchmarking, profiling, test automation, and defect tracking.
- Hands-on experience with REST APIs, MQTT, CoAP, network analysis, packet capture tools, and serial communication protocols including UART, RS-232, and RS-485.
- Proficiency in Bash or similar scripting languages.
- Experience in software security testing, vulnerability assessment, or system hardening validation.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and external-partner collaboration skills.
- Preferred qualifications include embedded platform certification, app validation, secure application onboarding, sandboxing, process isolation, lightweight containerization, firmware security, penetration testing, fuzz testing, threat modeling, anomaly detection, access control systems, secure firmware updates, and device lifecycle management.
