Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable services in Node and TypeScript.
- Design and implement REST and, where appropriate, GraphQL APIs.
- Model data and protect its integrity and performance in PostgreSQL.
- Review human- and AI-generated code for quality and consistency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues.
- Contribute to team standards, tooling, and architecture.
- Own the ongoing health, correctness, performance, and observability of backend services.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend development experience with strong Node and TypeScript skills.
- Strong REST API design and implementation experience, with GraphQL experience where appropriate.
- Strong PostgreSQL knowledge and relational data modeling experience.
- Experience building on AWS, including services such as Lambda, SQS, SNS, and S3.
- Understanding of service architecture and distributed systems.
- Good testing habits and strong English communication skills.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, agile consulting environment.
- Experience integrating LLMs or building AI-backed services is a plus.
- Experience with event-driven systems, message queues, Docker, or Kubernetes is a plus.
- Depth in Python or Go, or notable open-source work, is a plus.
