Responsibilities
- Develop organization-wide architectures and methodologies for software systems across multiple platforms and organizations.
- Own technical direction for data-path and object storage product development, including architecture, integration, and roadmap alignment.
- Anticipate bottlenecks and architect innovative solutions for complex storage systems.
- Review designs and project activities for compliance with development guidelines and provide feedback to improve product quality and reduce failure risk.
- Drive engineering best practices and operational excellence at team and organizational levels.
- Evaluate new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development relationships for integration into the architecture.
- Coach and mentor junior and mid-level developers.
- Influence executive leadership, development partners, and industry standards groups on technical decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent.
- 15+ years of experience in product development focused on storage or systems engineering.
- Track record of delivering V1 or early-stage products using modern object, file, or cloud storage technologies.
- Experience establishing and assuring performance requirements, work plans, and schedules for significant engineering initiatives.
- Strong experience designing and developing software systems, architectures, testing approaches, debugging processes, and test tools.
- Multiple patents or deployed software design solutions are identified as a preferred qualification.
- Strong C/C++ system programming background for large enterprise-class software.
- Proficiency with data structures, algorithms, and multithreaded programming.
- In-depth knowledge of operating system internals and ability to debug multithreaded and clustered environments.
- Preferred experience with data paths, distributed systems, clustering, high availability, memory and space management, virtualization, deduplication, replication, QoS, storage protocols, performance tuning, modeling, and large-object or multipart upload design.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, communication, architecture presentation, and negotiation skills.
