Responsibilities
- Own and evolve Flexport’s internal developer platform, paved paths, and self-service tooling.
- Create and support CI/CD pipelines, build tooling, and artifact repositories for engineering teams.
- Improve backend and frontend developer experience across the organization.
- Steward GraphQL and gRPC ecosystems, including middleware, federation, schema sharing, CLIs, code generation, servers, and clients.
- Evolve IAM solutions and primitives so platform capabilities are secure by default.
- Improve the usability of Kubernetes, ECS, OpenMetrics, and Datadog for service operation and debugging.
- Conduct developer research through shadowing, interviews, and developer-experience metrics.
- Align across organizational boundaries and ship platform-wide changes with product teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience building developer platforms, internal tooling, or core infrastructure.
- Broad full-stack experience across backend services, frontend build pipelines, Kubernetes manifests, and CI configuration.
- Experience with at least one CI/CD system, container orchestrator, build tooling for more than one language, backend-for-frontend technology, service-to-service communication, metrics, and artifact storage.
- Strong internal-product instincts, independent problem-solving ability, communication skills, and ownership of brownfield migrations.
- Ability to conduct developer interviews, write design documents, align stakeholders, and drive platform-wide changes.
- Preferred experience with DORA metrics, AWS, IAM at scale including JWTs and OIDC, fine-grained authorization, and Terraform.
