Base Salary
$70k - $126k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect, design, develop, implement, integrate, and maintain next-generation software applications using software engineering best practices.
- Develop geospatial, document-processing, data-transformation, and structured-data applications using Python and related libraries and frameworks.
- Build infrastructure-as-code and configuration-as-code solutions using Terraform and Ansible.
- Use generative AI, LLMs, AI coding assistants, RAG, AI agents, prompt engineering, and AI MCP servers in software development.
- Use DevOps and CI/CD tooling including Bamboo, Docker, SonarQube, and Ansible.
- Provide software expertise in application integration, RESTful services, artificial intelligence, security, workflow automation, module integration, user experience, and accessibility compliance.
- Investigate and repair defects across automation, front-end, business logic, middleware, and database components.
- Create, validate, transform, and manage JSON, CSV, XML, XSD, and XSLT structured data.
- Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, end-to-end, and behavior-driven tests.
- Brief management, customers, teams, and vendors at an appropriate technical level.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, engineering, or a related technical discipline; a master’s or doctorate may substitute for required experience.
- At least three years of combined experience with modern software development using Python, Java, or PHP.
- Experience working in Agile software development environments.
- Willingness to travel at least 50% as needed and to customer sites.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance; candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
- Experience with Python object-oriented design, type annotations, asynchronous programming, automated testing, and secure software development practices.
- Experience with XML schema design, XSLT transformations, and structured-data validation.
- Experience with pytest, Behave, Selenium, Playwright, or comparable test automation frameworks.
- Knowledge of HTML5, JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS3, and responsive UI development.
- Experience with UNIX and Linux operating systems and Bash, Shell, or Python scripting.
- Experience with Git/Bitbucket, Bamboo/Jenkins, SonarQube, and automated build and deployment pipelines.
- Experience with Ansible playbooks and roles, RPM-based Linux packaging, AWS, PHP, Drupal, Atlassian tools, relational databases, SQL optimization, or Doctrine/Eloquent is preferred.
- FAA and air-traffic domain knowledge and relevant AWS certifications are preferred.

- The position can be remote, with preference for candidates local to Gaithersburg, MD; Atlantic City, NJ; or Eagan, MN who can work onsite three days per week.
- The role requires at least 50% travel as needed and may include travel to customer sites.
