Responsibilities
- Help maintain regional compute capacity plans, buffer policies, and headroom targets.
- Build automation for reservation acquisition and top-up, fleet reconciliation, and drift detection.
- Extend infrastructure as code for capacity-related provisioning.
- Build metrics and alerting for saturation, reservation coverage, idle buffer, forecast error, provisioning latency, headroom, quotas, and reservations.
- Support intake of large customer commitments, launches, migrations, and new regions into the capacity plan.
- Contribute to right-sizing, instance-family migration, autoscaling, workload consolidation, placement, and commitment coverage initiatives.
- Participate in capacity incident response and post-incident follow-through.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience across infrastructure engineering, SRE, platform engineering, or capacity engineering, ideally at SaaS or cloud infrastructure scale.
- Production software engineering experience owning and operating services.
- Comfort with modern languages such as TypeScript, Python, and Go.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Pulumi or Terraform.
- Experience building or maintaining observability, including metrics and trusted alerting, with Prometheus/Grafana, CloudWatch, or similar tools.
- Working knowledge of AWS EC2 instance families and generations, purchase options, capacity reservations, and quota mechanics.
- Understanding of reservation economics and tradeoffs among coverage, utilization, and cost.
- Ability to work with incomplete forecasts and assumptions, revise plans as assumptions change, and communicate with engineering and finance stakeholders.
