Base Salary
$190k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services that manage machine configuration and fleet state.
- Develop full-stack features across APIs, databases, and web applications used to operate machines.
- Build systems that deploy configuration and software updates across machine fleets.
- Evolve authentication and permissions systems across the Viam platform.
- Build infrastructure for storing and retrieving logs uploaded from deployed machines.
- Improve systems that track machine usage and support Viam’s billing platform.
- Shape architecture decisions for scaling the fleet platform and own systems through production operation.
- Mentor engineers and provide guidance on complex projects.
Requirements
- Experience building production systems in distributed or cloud environments.
- Experience designing reliable APIs and backend services that operate at scale.
- Experience debugging complex distributed systems or production services.
- Ability to collaborate across teams on shared platform capabilities, developer tooling, or user-facing systems.
- Ability to make sound technical tradeoffs as systems and architecture evolve.
- Robotics or IoT experience is not required.
