Responsibilities

  • Develop safety- and security-critical embedded software for new programmable logic controllers.
  • Design, implement, test, release, and maintain software across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Implement platform BSPs, features, and subsystems for tightly coupled hardware and software products.
  • Build and maintain automated tests and tools for new and existing product features.
  • Work across commercial off-the-shelf hardware, custom System on Chip architectures, general-purpose systems, and embedded real-time operating systems.
  • Use and improve continuous integration and development tools across the global development organization.
  • Debug software systems using on-chip or software-based debuggers.
  • Participate in requirements management, requirements decomposition, test traceability, and product planning.
  • Work with industrial protocols, especially Common Industrial Protocol.
  • Develop and test against safety and security standards such as IEC 61508 and IEC 62443.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentor less experienced personnel, and encourage knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • Typically at least 5 years of related experience, including 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in design and implementation.
  • Experience developing embedded systems software, especially with an embedded RTOS or Linux.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented analysis, design, and programming techniques.
  • Experience with C++ or Python for software, automated tests, and tools.
  • Experience developing automation frameworks and tools.
  • Experience using on-chip or software-based debuggers such as GDB.
  • Experience with open-source tools such as Git and Jenkins.
  • Knowledge of unit testing tools such as GTest or CppUnit.
  • Experience with requirements decomposition, test traceability, and Agile development settings.
  • Experience with industrial protocols, especially Common Industrial Protocol.
  • Experience developing software and testing safety and security standards such as IEC 61508 or IEC 62443.
  • A degree or advanced coursework in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or controls is preferred.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
