Responsibilities
- Design efficient model architectures aligned with product and business requirements.
- Formulate research plans, implement experiments, and advance understanding of machine learning.
- Focus on pre-training, model architecture, and scientific scaling of large language models.
- Optimize workflows and infrastructure to improve training efficiency and scale.
- Collaborate with machine learning engineers, researchers, and broader Apple teams.
- Communicate and publish research results in relevant scientific venues.
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated expertise in machine learning research or engineering.
- Hands-on experience with JAX, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Strong mathematical foundation in linear algebra and statistics.
- Fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
- Preferred: ability to formulate research problems, design experiments, implement solutions, and communicate results.
- Preferred: experience collaborating in diverse environments and a publication record in relevant conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ACL, or EMNLP.
- Preferred: competitive programming experience such as ICPC, NOI/IOI, or equivalent competitions.
