Responsibilities

  • Define AMD solution engineering strategy and deliver end-to-end reference architectures, reusable components, integration guides, validated configurations, and customer proof-of-concepts.
  • Drive upstream enablement across Linux kernels, drivers, firmware interfaces, system libraries, containers, Kubernetes, schedulers, service meshes, observability platforms, runtimes, compilers, libraries, and data-processing frameworks.
  • Integrate and optimize relational, NoSQL, analytical, vector, graph, caching, messaging, and distributed database platforms on AMD systems.
  • Design secure, high-performance APIs and SDK integration patterns and develop MCP servers, connectors, and reference patterns.
  • Support AMD + AMD and AMD + NVIDIA deployment models while improving interoperability, portability, operational consistency, and customer choice.
  • Apply profiling, benchmarking, tracing, and systems analysis to improve performance, scalability, availability, energy efficiency, cost of ownership, and quality of service.
  • Build security into solution architectures through confidential computing, trusted execution, attestation, identity, secure boot, supply-chain controls, cryptography, data protection, governance, and auditability.
  • Enable practical AI workloads such as model serving, retrieval, vector search, data pipelines, and developer productivity where relevant.
  • Partner with customers, hyperscalers, OEMs, ISVs, vendors, and open-source maintainers to resolve integration barriers and provide roadmap feedback.
  • Represent AMD through technical publications, conferences, standards bodies, upstream contributions, architecture reviews, executive customer engagements, and technical mentoring.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent advanced industry experience.
  • Extensive experience delivering systems software, platform integration, solution architecture, or customer engineering for large-scale enterprise, cloud, data-center, or edge environments.
  • Deep expertise in heterogeneous computing across CPUs, GPUs, DPUs, networking, storage, memory subsystems, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux kernel architecture, drivers, system calls, memory management, I/O, networking stacks, security mechanisms, performance tooling, and upstream development practices.
  • Experience with runtime services, compilers, language runtimes, system libraries, containers, Kubernetes, distributed schedulers, observability, CI/CD, and software supply chains.
  • Strong database and data-platform expertise, including performance and scale-out optimization.
  • Experience designing and integrating REST, gRPC, event-driven, and systems-level APIs, plus working knowledge of Model Context Protocol server, client, tool, resource, authentication, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Strong programming skills in C, C++, Python, Go, Rust, or comparable systems languages, with experience in profiling, debugging, and production-quality open-source development.
  • Experience with ROCm, AMD Zen Software Studio, AMD Enterprise AI, or comparable accelerator, compiler, runtime, and developer-tool ecosystems is desirable.
  • Practical familiarity with AI infrastructure, model serving, retrieval-augmented applications, vector databases, and inference performance is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership with customers, hyperscalers, OEMs, ISVs, standards groups, and open-source communities through shipped solutions, upstream contributions, patents, publications, or conference presentations.

Benefits

  • AMD benefits are offered; details are provided through AMD's benefits-at-a-glance information.
  • Alternate location: Santa Clara, California.
  • This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
