Software Engineer, Network Performance & Reliability (Argo)

Responsibilities
- Develop cutting-edge network software infrastructure for the Argo platform and Cloudflare’s products.
- Translate requirements from engineering teams into new platform capabilities.
- Collaborate with Network Engineering and SRE to optimize technology for Cloudflare’s edge network.
- Design and document systems, write production code and automated tests, and manage and monitor deployments.
- Own system health through the Run What You Build model and participate in the team’s on-call rotation.
- Use AI-powered tools to analyze codebases, production systems, and datasets and accelerate problem-solving.
Requirements
- Systems-level programming experience in Go, Rust, C, or C++, with willingness to learn Rust if needed.
- Solid understanding of OSI Layer 3 and Layer 4 networking protocols.
- Knowledge of HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks.
- Experience implementing secure, highly available distributed systems.
- Strong debugging ability for complex systems.
- Experience or interest in HTTP networking, VPN technologies, network performance monitoring, and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and Internet routing is a bonus.
- Professional Rust systems programming experience is a bonus.
- Working knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and control theory is a bonus.
- Experience building tools and APIs is a bonus.
- Experience monitoring, alerting, and debugging large-scale distributed systems is a bonus.
- Experience participating in an on-call rotation is a bonus.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools professionally is a bonus.
- Strong collaboration, communication, curiosity, empathy, and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
