Responsibilities
- Review firmware, hardware, and system requirements for clarity, completeness, testability, risks, and traceability.
- Design and maintain firmware feature and subsystem test cases under the guidance of senior or principal engineers.
- Support HIL test development by identifying interfaces, instrumentation, and required test resources.
- Develop, execute, and debug Python-based automated test scripts.
- Configure and execute tests using HIL systems, development hardware, and laboratory equipment.
- Analyze test failures and help isolate issues across firmware, hardware, test automation, and test setup boundaries.
- Document test results, objective evidence, defects, requirements gaps, and test rationale clearly and reproducibly.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on Agile projects and participate in technical reviews.
- Contribute to reusable test assets, automation frameworks, process improvements, and continuous learning.
- Define tasks, provide estimates, communicate progress, and support schedule and process adherence.
- Schedule, lead, and document technical meetings and formal presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience with verification and validation testing, embedded systems, and/or PCBA design.
- Experience with requirements management, defect tracking, source control, or peer review tools such as JAMA, Azure DevOps, Jira, or Polarion.
- Ability to read schematics and datasheets and apply working knowledge of digital circuits and firmware/electronics interaction.
- Experience developing or reviewing test cases or procedures from requirements.
- Working proficiency in Python, including writing, executing, and debugging test scripts.
- Familiarity with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, data acquisition systems, or multimeters.
- Structured problem-solving ability across software, firmware, hardware, and test setup boundaries.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting requirements, test rationale, results, and defects.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally, accepting technical feedback, managing assigned work, and exercising sound judgment with appropriate guidance.
- Preferred exposure to HIL testing, simulation, test-fixture development, or automated test systems.
- Preferred experience with National Instruments hardware, TestStand, VeriStand, or LabVIEW.
- Preferred experience with black-box and white-box testing, bare-metal firmware, embedded C or C++, unit testing, or structural testing methods.
- Preferred exposure to DevOps, automated regression testing, or continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
- Preferred experience using AI-assisted engineering or programming tools.
- Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
