Base Salary

$223k - $327k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and architectural vision for production-grade AI developer tools used across Epic’s major codebases.
  • Drive architecture for scalable developer-facing CLI, desktop, web, build integration, service, and API tools.
  • Establish patterns and standards for AI frameworks and agent architectures.
  • Identify strategic opportunities and design, build, and validate new AI platforms with leadership and high-value teams.
  • Design security, governance, compliance, secret management, workload identity, and runtime isolation protocols for AI platforms.
  • Define measurement strategies and success metrics for tool effectiveness.
  • Mentor and grow software engineers, conduct architecture reviews, and raise technical quality.
  • Remain hands-on in building, testing, releasing, and operating complex AI platform systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience building production software systems.
  • Track record of technical leadership for complex software projects delivered at scale.
  • Experience owning new platforms from initial technical design and architecture through early build-out and scaling.
  • Expert-level experience with REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Experience operating and orchestrating scalable services on Kubernetes, including container lifecycle and security configuration.
  • Experience using and building AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous organizational problems into concrete technical strategies and deliver them.
  • Game development experience with Unreal Engine is a bonus.
  • Experience leading developer tools or internal platform teams is a bonus.
  • Expert understanding of agent architectures and orchestration frameworks is a bonus.
  • Significant contributions to open-source AI tooling, extensive large-monorepo experience, and prior engineering leadership experience are bonuses.
