Base Salary

$200k - $260k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction for low-latency, highly scalable, event-based systems and platform architecture.
  • Build and evolve backend-heavy public APIs, healthcare network integrations, EHR integrations, and third-party platform integrations.
  • Drive projects from ideation through production rollout, including design documents, rapid initial releases, and iterative improvements.
  • Eventually lead a team of engineers by delegating work, unblocking teammates, and owning delivery while remaining hands-on.
  • Mentor engineers, review designs and pull requests, improve developer experience and tooling, and balance quality with delivery speed.
  • Own reliability, security, networking, observability, and participation in the on-call rotation.
  • Contribute to sprint planning, retrospectives, the engineering roadmap, and engineering process improvements.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer with strong backend experience in public APIs, distributed systems, and complex external integrations.
  • Experience formally or informally leading engineers and owning a team's technical direction and delivery.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and scaling cloud platforms handling many millions or billions of transactions per day.
  • Experience improving developer experience, testability, and release cycles with measurable before-and-after results.
  • Located in San Francisco or the Bay Area, or willing to relocate.
  • Preferred experience processing large amounts of data across services, transforming and consolidating data, and building query services.
  • Preferred knowledge of healthcare standards and technologies including FHIR, HIE, IHE, EHR/EMR, NPI, TEFCA, ADT, HL7, HEDIS, RAF, SNOMED, LOINC, and ICD-10.
