Responsibilities
- Lead exploration and application of large language models for translation tasks.
- Translate current research into practical, high-quality machine translation systems and models.
- Participate in model ideation, training, experimentation, fine-tuning, and deployment.
- Collaborate with translation, localization quality, project management, and engineering teams.
- Develop and maintain localization features, frameworks, and tools for software translation.
- Help architect localization approaches for machine learning models and machine translation.
Requirements
- MS in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Machine Learning, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with machine learning, especially large language models and natural language processing.
- Hands-on experience fine-tuning and training models and adapting pretrained LLMs for downstream tasks.
- Ability to apply cutting-edge research to consumer-oriented products.
- Strong programming skills in Python, C, or C++.
- Preferred experience includes software localization or internationalization and familiarity with Unicode, XLIFF, ICU, and related localization technologies.
- Preferred qualifications include scripting with bash, Ruby, or Perl; computational linguistics knowledge; published ML or AI research; and native-level foreign-language reading, writing, and speaking skills.
- Preferred Apple-platform experience includes Xcode, Objective-C, Swift, SwiftUI, and Foundation.
- Preferred familiarity with open-source ML toolkits and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and OpenNMT.
