Base Salary
$200k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and evolution of localization architecture, including build-versus-buy decisions and long-term technical roadmaps.
- Develop real-time sensor-fusion, visual/LiDAR odometry, global-localization, and self-diagnosis algorithms.
- Build pipelines to generate, maintain, query, and continuously update large-scale LiDAR-based HD maps.
- Design semantic map matching and change-detection systems that identify construction zones, lane shifts, and new signage from fleet data.
- Optimize localization software for embedded latency, memory, power, safety, and accuracy constraints.
- Mentor senior and junior engineers and conduct rigorous code reviews.
Requirements
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of industry experience in robotics, including at least 4 years working on production-level localization or mapping systems.
- Expert-level Modern C++14/17/20 skills with strong knowledge of memory management, multithreading, and real-time systems.
- Strong theoretical foundation in probabilistic robotics, Kalman filtering, nonlinear optimization, SLAM, 3D geometry, linear algebra, and coordinate transformations.
- Experience or familiarity with Eigen, Ceres, PCL, OpenCV, and GTSAM.
- Preferred: experience shipping localization stacks for autonomous vehicles or mobile robots.
- Preferred: hands-on experience with LOAM, lego-LOAM, ORB-SLAM, or VINS.
- Preferred: CUDA/GPU programming or optimization for ARM-based embedded platforms.
