Responsibilities
- Own and architect high-availability MySQL database platforms.
- Design and implement multi-region replication and disaster recovery architectures.
- Lead incident response for critical database outages.
- Define and track database SLIs/SLOs and establish reliability metrics.
- Drive capacity planning and architect for scaling.
- Lead automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
- Design and implement database provisioning platforms using Terraform.
- Lead CloudSQL operations at scale and execute cloud migration strategies.
- Conduct performance engineering initiatives including query optimization.
- Design and implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting frameworks.
- Mentor junior database engineers and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on MySQL DBA/Engineering experience.
- Expert-level knowledge of MySQL architecture and performance tuning.
- 4+ years managing Cloud SQL on GCP.
- 4+ years of Infrastructure as Code experience, preferably with Terraform.
- Strong programming/scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
- Deep Linux system administration skills.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
- Demonstrated leadership in incident response.
