Base Salary
$166k - $331k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture of complex and ambiguous products and solutions, evaluating trade-offs against customer, business, and platform outcomes.
- Drive architecture, implementation, validation, deployment, and operationalization across multiple large-scale infrastructure initiatives.
- Design reusable platform products, services, tools, and code that meet performance, scalability, resiliency, disaster recovery, security, compliance, and cost requirements.
- Establish company-wide coding, testing, architecture, and operational standards while mentoring engineers and technical leaders.
- Lead cross-product debugging, verification, telemetry, incident learning, repair actions, and automation for reliable operations.
- Align teams, customers, and technical leaders around dependencies, trade-offs, accountability, and long-term infrastructure strategy.
- Influence open-source projects and industry practices while advancing security, privacy, safety, and compliance.
- Improve the performance, efficiency, and reliability of large-scale AI workloads, including model inference.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Coding experience with languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: master’s degree with 12+ years of experience, or bachelor’s degree with 15+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience providing architecture and technical leadership for large-scale distributed systems, databases, analytics systems, or platform products.
- Experience aligning technical decisions with business outcomes and influencing cross-functional teams and senior technical leadership.
- Experience with Java, C++, or Rust and concepts such as query execution, indexing, concurrency, distributed algorithms, or data structures.
- Experience influencing open-source projects or participating in open-source project management and governance.
- Experience building interactive services, analytics interfaces, data infrastructure, compute infrastructure, or other large-scale platform systems.
- Familiarity with AI/ML infrastructure concepts such as model inference, GPU computing, model serving, or distributed training.
Benefits
- The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $165,600–$296,400 per year, with a separate range for specified San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area locations.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The position is open for a minimum of five days and accepts applications on an ongoing basis until filled.
