Responsibilities
- Develop moderately complex software and design small sets of new functionality for Garmin products and applications.
- Use software engineering tools, configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, profilers, emulators, simulators, and mobile development tools.
- Participate in peer code reviews and provide technical comments and suggestions.
- Perform root cause analysis, define corrective actions, estimate effort, evaluate technology options, and provide technical design feedback.
- Research new technologies and improve software development processes.
- Mentor less experienced Software Engineer 1 colleagues and potentially serve as a technical leader for derivative software projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field, plus at least one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, with a preferred GPA of at least 3.5.
- Proficiency developing moderately complex software in Kotlin, Java, Swift, or other selected languages.
- Experience developing Android and/or iOS mobile applications, preferably consumer-facing applications.
- Knowledge of object-oriented design principles, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience with modern mobile frameworks and technologies such as Jetpack Compose, SwiftUI, UIKit, and Android SDK.
- Experience with Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy, REST-based APIs, cloud-connected services, and Agile development environments is preferred.
- Previous design experience, particularly for consumer products, is preferred.
