Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and maintain card-network transactions and settlement processing at scale.
- Build backend systems for digital wallet tokens, card issuance, chargebacks, disputes, ACH and ATM money transfers, credit fees, and 3DS access control.
- Design and develop large, complex batch and event-driven processing projects from ideation through production.
- Collaborate with engineers and Product Managers to prioritize, scope, estimate, and ship features.
- Identify solutions to ambiguous problems, make technical tradeoffs, and improve scalability, resilience, global availability, and production reliability.
- Participate in on-call coverage and diagnose production issues while implementing improvements.
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software or data engineering, ideally involving payments or financial-services processing.
- Experience developing with Java and/or Python.
- Experience with batch data processing using query engines such as Athena and Trino/Presto.
- Experience designing, building, and scaling batch and event-processing solutions.
- Ability to make technical tradeoffs, navigate complex technical problems, and independently drive outcomes.
- Experience identifying root causes of production issues and implementing improvements.
- Experience mentoring engineers and working productively on cross-functional teams.
- Preferred experience with payments or FinTech, microservices, Java Spring Boot, Airflow, AWS or other cloud platforms, Kubernetes, Docker, and software delivery or deployment systems.
- Contributions to technical blogs, public GitHub repositories, or open-source projects are welcomed.
