Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed systems for hyper-scale cloud infrastructure.
- Define scalability, availability, durability, correctness, and operational-readiness requirements for owned components.
- Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, failover, in-service upgrades, load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting.
- Optimize code and data paths for high-throughput retrieval, storage, and processing workloads.
- Develop KPIs, telemetry, dashboards, alerts, performance tests, and fault-injection or brownout validation scenarios.
- Diagnose and resolve complex production and performance issues, participate in operational support rotations, and guide incident response.
- Implement security controls, remediation plans, compliance documentation, and data protection for multi-tenant environments.
- Develop infrastructure automation and support safe patching, updates, rollbacks, and other change-management processes.
- Provide technical leadership through architecture, design and code reviews, mentoring, cross-team collaboration, and candidate interviewing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience building highly available, scalable distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
- Strong programming skills in Java, Go, Rust, C, C++, or a similar systems or backend language.
- Deep experience in distributed systems, cloud control or management planes, scheduling, virtualization, storage, networking, security, reliability, or platform automation.
- Experience independently leading the design and delivery of complex resilient, observable, and operable services.
- Strong understanding of failure handling, concurrency, asynchronous workflows, safe retries, lifecycle management, and distributed-system correctness.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, production troubleshooting, and performance-issue resolution skills.
- Experience collaborating across teams and translating broad platform goals into executable technical designs and plans.
- Ability to mentor engineers and raise technical standards through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on leadership.

- U.S. hiring range is $114,600 to $234,600 per year, with potential bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
