Base Salary
$171k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and deliver complex software projects for Uber’s Experimentation platform.
- Build highly reliable Go backend microservices and Go and Java core evaluation libraries.
- Develop and support Tier 1 services and libraries processing more than 10 million evaluations per second.
- Use Cadence to orchestrate configuration updates in backend services.
- Debug and fix production-scale software bugs and improve system reliability.
- Apply monitoring, alerting, logging, and other software engineering best practices.
- Design and document architectural solutions to complex engineering problems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable and support the business.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience in an engineering-related bootcamp.
- At least 2 years of professional software development experience building and deploying production systems.
- Proficiency writing efficient, clean code in Go, Java, or Python.
- Ability to debug and fix software bugs in production-scale environments.
- Strong understanding of distributed-systems fundamentals, including caching, sharding, consensus, fault tolerance, observability, and incident response.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including architecture and algorithm documentation.
- Preferred: coursework or industry experience in statistics, causal inference, or experimental design.
- Preferred: experience owning experiment analysis workflows, data pipelines, Pandas, PySpark, Spark, Scala, Jupyter Notebooks, feature-flag systems, or progressive-delivery systems.
