Responsibilities
- Own the target architecture and key design decisions for a modernized commercial lending platform.
- Lead technical design sessions and produce architecture models, sequence diagrams, component models, and detailed specifications.
- Build production systems using LLMs and agentic AI, including orchestration, tool use, evaluations, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Analyze, document, reverse-engineer, and rewrite legacy code and business rules at scale.
- Pair with engineers on implementation using Python, Java, or similar languages.
- Establish scalable, reliable cloud-native engineering and deployment patterns.
- Communicate architectural tradeoffs, costs, benefits, risks, and implementation requirements to engineers, business partners, and senior leaders.
- Ensure solutions meet requirements for confidentiality, integrity, availability, scalability, reliability, and manageability.
Requirements
- Multiple years of software engineering and solution architecture experience, including technical leadership on at least one large legacy modernization.
- Hands-on experience building production systems with LLMs and agentic AI.
- Experience with agent orchestration, tool use, RAG, evaluations, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop design.
- Experience using AI-assisted engineering to analyze, document, and rewrite legacy code at scale.
- Strong cloud-native architecture experience with microservices, APIs, event-driven design, containers or Kubernetes, and AWS or Azure.
- Ability to write code in Python, Java, or a similar language and collaborate directly on implementation.
- Strong communication skills with engineers, business partners, and senior leaders.
- Bachelor’s degree; a comparable combination of education, job-specific certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Typically 8 or more years of industry experience.
- Preferred: commercial lending or commercial real estate knowledge, especially loan servicing, payments, escrow, or investor reporting.
- Preferred: financial services or regulated-industry experience involving security, resiliency, auditability, model risk, and controls.
- Preferred: forward-deployed engineering, AI solutions consulting, or startup technical founder experience.
- Preferred: experience with LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, MCP, or similar agent frameworks and AI observability tools.
