Base Salary
$167k - $209k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable DBaaS control-plane and infrastructure systems that improve throughput, multi-region operability, and reliability.
- Translate customer and system requirements into technical designs, architecture, and executable workstreams.
- Improve resource utilization, fault tolerance, availability, and performance under production I/O, CPU, and network bottlenecks.
- Develop automated failover, continuous backups, point-in-time recovery, and maintenance capabilities for higher data volumes and tighter SLAs.
- Scale platform infrastructure for compute-heavy, high-concurrency, data-intensive, and AI-inference-adjacent workloads.
- Lead technical decisions, design reviews, code reviews, and complex cross-team projects.
- Mentor engineers and raise standards for architecture, code quality, and maintainability.
- Establish observability, failover, and recovery practices; participate in on-call and convert incident learnings into platform improvements.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems or data-plane/control-plane infrastructure.
- Proven ability to diagnose and solve complex, high-concurrency engineering problems in production cloud environments.
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or MySQL internals, including query performance, replication, and scaling is preferred.
- Strong understanding of concurrency, failure modes, multi-region concerns, and production performance optimization in Linux and cloud environments.
- Experience scaling services for the compute, memory, and networking demands of data-intensive or AI-inference-adjacent workloads is preferred.
- Track record of driving complex cross-team technical projects, mentoring engineers, and communicating technical tradeoffs clearly.
