Base Salary

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electronic firmware and specifications for power tools, including brushless DC motor controls, lithium-ion battery-management systems, and battery chargers.
  • Implement and validate electronic designs through software development, testing, and simulation.
  • Develop software verification and validation procedures using unit and integration tests.
  • Provide leadership for cost, performance, and quality objectives involving electronic systems, components, and subassemblies.
  • Develop solutions for electronic-system issues and translate customer requirements into software specifications.
  • Maintain documentation, debug embedded systems, and contribute to cross-functional engineering activities.
  • Provide technical direction to overseas electronic contract manufacturers and support production quality as needed.
  • Manage multiple unrelated objectives concurrently.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or an equivalent four-year degree from an accredited college.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing embedded software for consumer or industrial products.
  • Experience developing embedded C software for 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit microcontrollers.
  • Knowledge of common microcontroller peripherals including timers, GPIO, watchdogs, ADC, UART, and DMA.
  • Strong understanding of real-time processing, process scheduling, cooperative multitasking, interrupt processing, race conditions, and RTOS concepts.
  • Experience with ARM architectures is preferred, and assembly-language coding experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with closed-loop control, feedback systems, lithium-ion battery-powered systems, and sensored or sensorless trapezoidal motor control is preferred.
  • Familiarity with static analysis, distributed version control, unit testing, bug tracking, and in-circuit or other debugging methods.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.
