Staff Engineer, AI Platform
FireblocksResponsibilities
- Own the internal AI platform and its roadmap as a shared foundation for company teams.
- Architect and write production code for scalable, reliable, secure AI platform capabilities.
- Build or operate model-routing gateways that select inference providers based on cost, latency, capability, and data sensitivity.
- Measure and improve AI system quality, cost, safety, and regression performance.
- Design security guardrails, least-privilege access, human-in-the-loop escalation, monitoring, and auditability for autonomous systems.
- Partner with engineering, product, go-to-market, operations, security, legal, and finance stakeholders to drive adoption and technical direction.
- Identify high-leverage AI opportunities and communicate plans from whiteboard discussions through executive-level presentations.
- Own supporting cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes environments, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
Requirements
- Vast Staff-level engineering experience building and running high-scale systems while remaining hands-on with code.
- Deep practical experience building modern AI systems with frontier-model APIs, multi-agent orchestration, RAG, and developer-facing surfaces such as CLIs and MCP.
- Experience building or operating an inference gateway that routes across model providers using cost, latency, capability, and data-sensitivity criteria.
- Experience evaluating and improving AI systems, including detecting regressions and managing quality, cost, and safety.
- Strong security-first engineering experience involving guardrails, least-privilege access, human-in-the-loop escalation, monitoring, and audit.
- Solid DevOps experience with cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Strong product sense, proactive stakeholder management, and communication skills through executive level.
- Ability to lead through ownership and influence cross-functional partners.
- Experience in a high-trust regulated environment such as fintech, security, or custody is preferred.
- Experience with digital assets, blockchain, or Web3 is preferred.
