Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reliable, secure, high-throughput, and scalable software.
- Identify architecture improvements and prepare proposals for implementing them.
- Lead and oversee development of scalable code, prototypes, minimum viable products, and proofs of concept.
- Own complex, long-term projects by defining scope and requirements, communicating progress, and ensuring timely delivery.
- Collaborate across development teams and products on feature design and implementation.
- Conduct testing and code reviews to maximize code quality and adherence to best practices.
- Provide technical leadership, subject-matter expertise, and guidance across the department and organization.
- Define strategic direction, contribute to roadmaps, synthesize feedback, and support team success.
- Serve as a cross-functional technical resource and point of contact for customers, product managers, partners, and internal teams.
- Mentor developers and advise team leads and managers on execution choices, trade-offs, and team improvements.
- Document system design and architecture for maintainability and extensibility.
- Write complex software using languages and environments such as C#, JavaScript, and SQL.
- Present technical discussions and training, research emerging technologies, and make recommendations to senior leadership.
- Participate in a 24x7 rotating on-call schedule if applicable.
Requirements
- 10–12 years of experience as a software developer using object-oriented programming to build scalable applications.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree specializing in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent working experience.
- Expertise in software design, architecture, and database optimization, including hands-on experience with MySQL, Python, Google Compute Engine, and Google BigQuery.
- Strong SQL Server and PostgreSQL database design, optimization, and query-writing skills.
- Deep frontend knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, ES6, jQuery, Angular, React, Node.js, Vue.js, and UI/UX design.
- Proficiency with Git or other distributed source-control tools, including branch management and merge-conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring and developing employees, including mentoring interns over several years.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, research open-ended design problems, and work effectively under pressure.
