Responsibilities
- Own and advance the New Relic query gateway stack.
- Build and maintain scalable distributed Java services and petabyte-scale infrastructure.
- Investigate and resolve performance, availability, and resiliency issues in a multi-region, multi-cloud, multi-tenant distributed database.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with AI, Visualizations, and Data Processing teams.
- Participate in software quality, reliability, pager rotation, and occasional on-call support.
- Work in an agile environment using a DevOps approach while maintaining team-owned software.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in collaborative software development.
- Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and modern software design and development.
- Experience with Java or an equivalent object-oriented language such as C++, C#, or another comparable language.
- Ability to work deeply with the command line and troubleshoot broken systems.
- Strong ownership and self-directed working style.
- Preferred: experience operating in a 24x7 SaaS business and familiarity with database implementation, distributed systems, or query execution.
- Preferred: experience with observability tools and platforms, public cloud environments, Kubernetes, Docker, and asynchronous distributed teams.
