Base Salary

$81k - $139k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Build a governed data-access application that enables natural-language exploration of survey data with authentication, authorization, audit logging, and disclosure-risk controls.
  • Develop offline-first tools for interviewers and field supervisors that operate on low-end devices and synchronize after intermittent connectivity.
  • Integrate AI services and model pipelines through APIs, including MCP connectors for making DHS data available in AI assistants.
  • Specify, review, test, and own production code developed with agentic coding tools.
  • Design data services and schemas for survey metadata, microdata, and AI-assisted processing results.
  • Implement production-ready, well-tested applications and document them for partner-country institutions to operate and publish independently.
  • Communicate progress with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including survey experts, program leaders, and partner institutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least 5 years of professional full-stack development experience, or a master's degree with at least 2 years of such experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience integrating LLMs into production systems with attention to error handling, security, and reliability.
  • At least 1 year of experience with a major cloud platform, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD.
  • U.S. citizenship is required by the federal government contract.
  • Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern frontend framework such as React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Strong backend development experience in Python or another modern language such as JavaScript/Node.js, Go, Java, or C#.
  • Experience with relational database design, SQL, and RESTful API design and integration.
  • Hands-on experience implementing authentication, authorization, and audit logging in production applications.
  • Demonstrated experience using agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot agent mode.
  • Preferred experience includes offline-first or low-connectivity applications, role-based data-access or analytics applications, statistical or research workflows, LLM cost and reliability trade-offs, agent frameworks, AI workflow orchestration, MCP servers, AI evaluation tools, multilingual interfaces, and global health or international development.
