Base Salary
$184k - $257k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set technical direction, investment priorities, success criteria, and tradeoffs for a multimedia modality or capability area.
- Design, build, and quality-review expert multimedia tasks, reference outputs, guidelines, rubrics, and quality criteria for model training and evaluation.
- Build reliable evaluations and graders, distinguish model failures from instrumentation failures, and debug quality issues to resolution.
- Analyze model-output failure modes and propose new task types or data to address capability gaps.
- Design and build agentic, human-in-the-loop, and expert-in-the-loop workflows and pipelines to scale data production.
- Drive technical direction across partner teams and collaborate with research, model-training, and engineering organizations.
- Mentor engineers, contribute to hiring and onboarding, and establish team standards and review practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of software engineering experience, or a PhD plus 5 years of experience.
- Significant depth in one or more media modalities, including video, image, audio, speech, or music.
- Experience designing and building multimedia pipelines, workflows, or tooling.
- Working understanding of model training and evaluation and how data quality and coverage affect model behavior.
- Experience owning software components or systems end to end and driving work with cross-functional partners.
- Preferred experience evaluating or red-teaming multimodal models, creating model-improvement data, and designing reliable and reproducible benchmarks.
- Preferred knowledge of video, audio, and streaming standards such as H.265, MPEG-DASH, and WebRTC.
- Preferred fluency with professional media tools such as Premiere, After Effects, Blender, or Pro Tools.
- Preferred experience building data pipelines for complex media formats with versioning, lineage, and provenance.
- Preferred experience designing AI agents, orchestration, or human-in-the-loop systems and working directly with researchers.
- Preferred understanding and implementation of responsible and ethical AI practices, including risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality reviews.
- Preferred experience with zero-to-one team and process formation and integrating AI tools to improve workflow efficiency and quality.
- Preferred ongoing AI skill development, including prompt/context engineering and agent orchestration.
