Responsibilities
- Build and manage distributed systems including Galera, Nginx, Aerospike, Elasticsearch, and RabbitMQ
- Deploy operating system vulnerability fixes to production systems
- Perform routine database maintenance
- Build and roll out proxy configurations to production systems
- Understand and manage the criticality of production infrastructure
- Provide rotational 24/7 on-call support across the SRE organization
Requirements
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in Linux or Unix system administration
- Proficiency with Linux command-line tools, Bash or Python scripting, and debugging scripts
- Hands-on experience with disk management and Logical Volume Manager (LVM)
- Understanding of system services, package management, file permissions, cron jobs, and DNS configuration
- Understanding of Infrastructure as Code using Salt or Ansible
- Understanding of database shards, partitions, and truncations
- Good interpersonal communication skills and ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures
- Knowledge of MariaDB or similar distributed databases, Docker or similar containerization technology, Nginx or similar proxy technology, Git, basic networking, Linux-based firewalls, and HTTP/TLS security is preferred
