Responsibilities
- Own the team architecture of personalized recommendation systems operating at Amazon scale.
- Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of cross-team projects focused on maintainability, scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Build AI-powered experiences including personalized recommendations, relevance explanations, and knowledge-driven features using LLMs and generative AI.
- Collaborate with Product and Science to define technical roadmaps and data-driven customer experiences.
- Define measurement strategies, analytics events, and experiment configurations for business and technical metrics.
- Make sound technical decisions in ambiguous problem spaces and drive adoption of engineering best practices.
- Simplify existing systems and resolve endemic, root-cause problems.
- Mentor multiple engineers and strengthen team engineering practices and operational foundations.
Requirements
- Experience mentoring, serving as a tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
- Experience leading architecture and design for new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience programming in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# using object-oriented design.
- Preferred: bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
