Responsibilities
- Design and implement 5G NR Layer 1 DSP algorithms for Doppler tracking, CFO pre-compensation, and ICI mitigation in satellite environments.
- Write and maintain C++ code for the 5G NR-NTN Layer 1 and Layer 2 protocol stack, including MAC and downlink/uplink schedulers.
- Implement NTN-specific features such as extended HARQ timers, timing-advance pre-compensation, link adaptation, and satellite Doppler pre-compensation.
- Contribute to MAC scheduling for HARQ retransmissions, coverage-enhancement modes, and constellation-aware resource allocation.
- Build test cases, simulation harnesses, and automation to validate protocol behavior against 3GPP specifications.
- Support lab and field validation across LEO and GEO NTN environments with RF and baseband engineering teams.
- Debug and root-cause issues in Linux using GDB, Valgrind, perf, and Wireshark.
- Translate 3GPP Release 17 and Release 18 NR-NTN specifications into software requirements with systems engineers.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, technical documentation, and use of AI coding assistants.
Requirements
- Strong C++ programming ability, including non-trivial project experience and knowledge of memory management, pointers, references, and the standard library.
- Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in electrical engineering, wireless communications, telecommunications, computer science, or a closely related field.
- Working knowledge of digital communications and signal-processing fundamentals, including modulation, channel coding, OFDM, and link budgets.
- Familiarity with 5G NR or LTE concepts such as frame and slot structure, HARQ, and scheduling.
- Comfort working in Linux and with Git version control.
- Clear communication, curiosity, persistence in debugging, and willingness to learn from experienced engineers.
- Preferred experience includes wireless protocol development, baseband, SDR, 5G NR PHY or MAC details, FAPI, MATLAB or Python, multithreaded or real-time software, and satellite communications.
- Internship, thesis, or research experience is beneficial, while prior professional experience is a plus but not required.
