Base Salary
$168k - $227k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver major Amazon Q capabilities and highly available, scalable, secure, low-latency distributed systems.
- Build systems that connect foundation models with customer context, AWS knowledge, retrieval systems, APIs, tools, and actions.
- Solve production generative AI challenges involving contextual grounding, agent orchestration, tool execution, retrieval, security, latency, reliability, and AI quality evaluation.
- Lead projects end to end from requirements and architecture through implementation, launch, operations, measurement, and continuous improvement.
- Define technical direction, influence architecture across Amazon Q and partner teams, and drive engineering standards for design, testing, observability, deployment, and operations.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, technical discussions, and hands-on development.
- Collaborate with applied scientists, product leaders, UX partners, and engineering teams to bring advances in foundation models, retrieval, reasoning, and agentic AI into production.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
- 5+ years of experience leading the design or architecture of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering team lead.
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
