Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and continuously improve QA activities for data-intensive environments.
- Perform end-to-end ETL, data workflow, functional, integration, system, and regression testing.
- Validate data extraction, transformation, loading, reconciliation, completeness, consistency, accuracy, and business rules.
- Use advanced SQL to analyze source-to-target mappings, joins, aggregations, transformations, and data-quality defects.
- Develop and maintain reusable test automation utilities and frameworks using Python, PySpark, and Pandas where appropriate.
- Test cloud-based data platforms and integrations involving Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Gen2, and Azure DevOps.
- Perform API and integration testing with Postman and validate data exchange across systems.
- Manage defects from identification and root-cause analysis through prioritization, fix verification, and closure.
- Report test progress, results, quality metrics, risks, dependencies, blockers, and outstanding defects.
- Coordinate QA activities with developers, data engineers, data architects, business analysts, product owners, business users, and project or program management.
- Identify quality risks, monitor mitigation measures, support quality governance, and promote continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Several years of experience as a Software Quality Engineer, Data QA Engineer, Data Test Engineer, ETL Test Engineer, or in a similar role.
- Demonstrable experience with ETL testing and Big Data testing, including strong manual-testing experience.
- Experience validating BI and reporting outputs, data quality, data reconciliation, and complete end-to-end testing lifecycles.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and good knowledge of ETL frameworks and processes.
- Hands-on experience with Python, PySpark, Pandas, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Gen2, Azure DevOps, and Postman.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or another comparable technical discipline.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, accuracy, ownership, accountability, communication, stakeholder-management, and risk-mitigation skills.
- Ability to explain complex technical information in an understandable way and work independently in complex, data-driven environments.
- Experience with or strong interest in AI-driven testing and intelligent test automation is an advantage.
