Base Salary

$210k - $275k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction and execution approach for the Data Integrations platform.
  • Own the architecture of orchestration, pipelines, data stores, and systems that move data through the platform.
  • Anticipate scaling and reliability risks and address them before they become incidents.
  • Establish standards for monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, dashboards, alerting, SLOs, and safe production rollouts.
  • Partner with platform and product teams to protect sensitive customer data and meet security, regulatory, and compliance obligations.
  • Lead complex cross-system initiatives from architecture and implementation through migration, rollout, and production operation.
  • Balance security, correctness, reliability, performance, simplicity, and delivery speed in technical decisions.
  • Mentor Senior and Staff engineers, run architecture and design reviews, and raise engineering standards.
  • Identify systemic risks early and resolve their root causes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience.
  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial experience operating at Staff-equivalent scope.
  • Deep experience building and operating distributed systems at scale, high-throughput pipelines, and data-intensive services.
  • Strong data-layer and concurrency judgment, including experience with relational databases, database locks, and Redis.
  • Experience with networking and egress, NAT, static IPs, connection lifecycles, DNS, TLS, databases, and container runtimes.
  • Production experience with GCP and container orchestration such as Kubernetes or Knative.
  • Fluency in a modern backend language; Python is strongly preferred and Go or a similar language is a plus.
  • Ability to translate business goals into technical direction and communicate technical tradeoffs to non-engineers.
  • Demonstrated history of mentoring and leveling up other engineers.
  • Healthcare integrations experience with HL7 v2, FHIR, or EHRs such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth is a bonus.
  • Experience with HIPAA, SOC 2, and security practices for handling protected health information is a bonus.
