Base Salary
$200k - $280k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-throughput, low-latency backend systems for real-time location processing.
- Take technical ownership of critical subsystems, driving architectural decisions and managing dependencies.
- Lead the development of geospatial libraries and location algorithms for platform services.
- Architect distributed systems using Java and Go, leveraging Kafka and NATS for event streaming.
- Drive technical design specifications and mentor engineers on distributed systems patterns.
- Identify and address technical debt and scalability bottlenecks to improve system reliability.
- Collaborate across teams to define APIs and refine technical requirements.
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies for geospatial computing and real-time data processing.
- Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response for location platform systems.
- Provide technical leadership and conduct thorough code reviews.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend systems.
- Expert-level knowledge of distributed systems and high-throughput data processing.
- Hands-on experience with geospatial algorithms and location intelligence.
- Proficiency in Java and Go with experience building production services.
- Deep experience with Kafka and NATS for event streaming and real-time data pipelines.
- Proven track record of technical leadership and driving architectural decisions.
- Experience building systems that process billions of events per day with strict latency requirements.
- Strong system design and architecture skills for complex subsystems.
- Experience building reusable libraries or platform services for engineering teams.
