- Build tooling for Jupyter-based prototyping, experimentation, evaluation, simulation, scalable ML pipelines, and reproducible model organization.
- Collaborate with data scientists to build models predicting locations of economically valuable ore-metal concentrations.
- Apply and coach others on robust, testable, and composable software-engineering practices.
- Collaborate with data scientists, geoscientists, and engineers to develop KoBold’s scientific-computing stack.
- Travel occasionally to exploration sites to assess products and help design technologies that improve mineral discovery.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a software engineer, data scientist, or ML engineer; the posting notes that many strong candidates will have closer to 10 years.

- Proficiency with foundational statistical, traditional, and deep-learning concepts.
- Proficiency in Python, ideally including array-based packages such as xarray and NumPy.
- Deep experience working with measured scientific data and visualizing it for domain experts.
- Experience with MLOps and building robust machine-learning systems.
- Ability to work with novel mineral-exploration problems, complex geology domains, and limited, disparate, noisy data sources.
- Ability to take ownership of large projects, prioritize independently, communicate technical concepts to non-developers, and collaborate across data science, geoscience, engineering, and operations.
- Willingness to learn mineral exploration, work directly with geologists, and operate effectively in a dynamic early-stage company.
Benefits
- Full-time remote position open to candidates anywhere in the United States or Canada.
