Responsibilities
- Define and govern enterprise architecture standards, principles, best practices, reference architectures, frameworks, and governance processes.
- Lead architecture reviews and provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams and business units.
- Develop technology and architecture roadmaps aligned with business objectives, modernization initiatives, and cloud transformation.
- Design and govern enterprise AI solutions, including responsible AI practices and opportunities to improve business processes and engineering productivity.
- Lead and support complex application, cloud, and system platform efforts while ensuring performance, availability, architecture alignment, and current technology practices.
- Develop security patterns, Enterprise Control Frameworks, secure coding practices, mitigation strategies, and security architecture standards.
- Support system integration, cloud migration, vendor evaluation, new-vendor integration, solution design, implementation, and administration.
- Partner with business stakeholders, Platform Engineers, Solution Architects, Cloud Service Engineers, and other technology stakeholders on planning, security delivery, and process improvements.
- Provide architecture governance documentation and design specifications for approval boards and ensure adherence to Wellmark standards and SDLC requirements.
- Mentor architects, security engineers, cloud engineers, and other team members while advising management on security risks and technology policies.
- Facilitate domain discovery and event storming workshops and define bounded contexts, aggregates, domain services, and domain events.
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and provide clear communication, counseling, and customer-focused technical solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or direct and applicable work experience.
- Minimum 9 years of experience, including applicable security application, cloud architecture, system integration, application development, and system analysis experience.
- Minimum 4 years of cloud architecture experience.
- Expertise in network protocols, enterprise network architecture, and designing complete technical solutions across multiple technologies.
- Experience securing workloads, migrating to public cloud platforms, and managing cloud access security brokers, including single sign-on, authorization, and encryption.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL database systems.
- Experience establishing architecture governance, engineering standards, modernization initiatives, cloud transformation, and secure coding practices.
- Deep Azure and AI platform expertise is preferred.
- Experience leading enterprise architecture across multiple teams and business units is preferred.
- Ability to influence executive and other stakeholders, synthesize complex information, make logical recommendations, drive consensus, and manage stakeholder issues.
- Ability to lead, coach, mentor, and provide guidance and feedback to architects, engineers, and other employees.
- Ability to remain effective and adaptable through changes in work tasks, structures, processes, requirements, and cultures.
- Strong business knowledge, stakeholder perspective, communication skills, strategic thinking, and hands-on technical depth.
- Ability to travel up to 5%.
