Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end software engineering delivery for Nova, including backend integrations, APIs, data access, and user-facing frontend experiences.
- Partner with UX, product, engineering leadership, and stakeholders to refine requirements, sequence delivery, estimate work, and manage dependencies and risks.
- Design and implement robust backend services, workflow-driven experiences, API contracts, data models, and integration patterns.
- Guide architecture and technical decisions, mentor engineers through reviews and pairing, and collaborate with solutions and data architects.
- Improve code quality, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability, release practices, scalability, performance, and technical-debt reduction.
- Coordinate with data engineering, BI engineering, data science, and US product and engineering counterparts to deliver integrated solutions.
- Respond to incidents, conduct root-cause analysis, improve system reliability, and drive continuous process improvement.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals across frontend and backend development, including architecture evaluation, code review, and technical decision-making.
- Experience with Elixir or comparable functional programming languages such as Scala, Erlang, or Clojure, or strong willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with modern data-stack technologies such as Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Azure, or AWS.
- Understanding of BI tools and their limitations, plus exposure to data science, machine-learning integrations, and consuming models through APIs or production pipelines.
- Experience establishing or significantly improving engineering best practices in a growing or maturing environment, including clean architecture, testing, CI/CD, documentation, and code reviews.
- Background collaborating with data engineers, BI engineers, data scientists, and product managers on data-driven products.
- Comfort with ambiguity and evolving scope, along with strong prioritization skills for balancing scalability and near-term delivery.
