Responsibilities
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug embedded software and firmware for electro-mechanical systems.
- Develop software for microprocessors, microcontrollers, and FPGAs to control actuators, acquire sensor data, implement control algorithms, and enable digital communications.
- Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot software APIs and SDKs for industrial controllers.
- Determine hardware compatibility and the effects of hardware design on software.
- Write requirements, firmware architecture, communication interfaces, test plans, and test scripts.
- Collaborate with global teams and external vendors on communication API integration.
- Interface with users and potential customers to define system requirements and support product integration.
- Influence coding conventions and software development standards within the company.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience working on electro-mechanical products with embedded systems, real-time control, and digital communication interfaces.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming for microcontrollers, microprocessors, and FPGAs.
- Experience with HDL and real-time operating systems is desired.
- Knowledge of Python is desirable.
- Knowledge of UART/RS232, RS485, SPI, TCP/IP, MODBUS, Profinet, Ethernet IP, and socket-based communications is preferred.
- Experience with GitHub or BitBucket and the ability to collaborate with a global team.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Computer Science.
- Robotics or machine automation experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with Linux, SBCs, SQL databases, Web Services, XML, and HTML is preferred.
