Responsibilities
- Improve vendor imports, product feeds, catalog data quality, categorization, and imagery across a large product catalog.
- Build inventory and pricing workflows using feed ingestion, scraping, and dependable data-processing software.
- Develop and test storefront API endpoints for the Django backend and React Router storefront.
- Improve Elasticsearch-backed search, facets, and recommendations.
- Replace repetitive merchandising, customer service, and operations workflows with scripts, admin tools, or appropriate AI-based automation.
- Contribute to infrastructure migration from hand-built AWS and Cloudflare resources to OpenTofu.
- Write focused automated tests, investigate unfamiliar systems, and deliver maintainable production software.
Requirements
- Strong Python programming skills and experience building production software.
- Solid SQL and PostgreSQL knowledge, including query-performance investigation.
- Experience building and consuming APIs, including familiarity with Django Ninja, Pydantic, OpenAPI, or similar tools.
- Experience processing real-world data from CSV or Excel files, external feeds, scraping, or ETL pipelines.
- Sufficient React and TypeScript experience to contribute to frontend work when needed.
- Strong testing practices focused on specific business outcomes.
- Good judgment when choosing among scripts, application features, process improvements, and AI-based automation.
- Clear written communication and the ability to work independently and deliver maintainable solutions.
- Preferred: hands-on Django experience, e-commerce experience, Elasticsearch or another search platform, AWS Lambda, S3, ECS, Cloudflare Workers, OpenTofu or Terraform, large product catalogs, and reviewed use of AI coding assistants.
