Base Salary

$266k - $445k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own distributed logging, time-series, and trace-storage infrastructure for the observability platform.
  • Build AI-native tools that help engineers detect, understand, and resolve production issues.
  • Develop dashboards, notebook-style workflows, and interactive debugging interfaces.
  • Collaborate with engineering, research, user operations, product, and other teams across OpenAI.
  • Build foundational infrastructure and internal tools that improve production-system reliability, performance, and observability.

Requirements

  • Experience operating large-scale distributed systems in production, especially logging systems or time-series databases.
  • Strong fundamentals in systems, networking, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Ability to solve ambiguous and unscoped technical problems in a hands-on environment.
  • Full-stack development skills or strong product sensibilities and interest in building tools used by engineers.
  • Observability experience with systems such as Prometheus or OpenTelemetry is a bonus.
