Base Salary

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, validate, and optimize algorithms for mass spectrometry data analysis, including feature finding, signal processing, peak detection, data extraction, and pattern recognition.
  • Enhance and maintain analytical algorithms to improve accuracy, performance, scalability, usability, and reliability across Agilent software applications.
  • Apply machine learning, statistical modeling, numerical methods, signal processing, data structures, and algorithms to complex scientific data problems.
  • Develop production-quality analytical software components for biochemical and mass spectrometry data analysis workflows.
  • Partner with software engineers to implement maintainable, testable, and scalable algorithms within Agilent software platforms.
  • Collaborate with scientists, application experts, customer-facing teams, and customers to understand scientific workflows and data analysis needs.
  • Create prototypes and re-engineer algorithms and data analysis approaches for interpreting complex scientific datasets.
  • Design validation strategies, test plans, benchmarks, and performance analyses to verify functional, scientific, and performance requirements.
  • Participate in engineering discussions, design reviews, technical problem-solving, and software architecture modernization efforts.
  • Communicate technical concepts to engineering partners, scientists, stakeholders, and customers.

Requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Analytical Chemistry, or a related technical or scientific field.
  • At least 4 years of experience developing production-grade algorithms, analytical software, scientific software, or data analysis tools.
  • Strong programming skills in C#, C++, Python, Java, or similar languages, with willingness to work in a Microsoft/C# development environment.
  • Expertise in one or more of signal processing, numerical methods, statistical modeling, machine learning, pattern recognition, optimization, or computational science.
  • Experience working with complex numerical or scientific datasets and developing methods to identify patterns, extract signals, and improve analytical interpretation.
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code in an engineering development environment.
  • Preferred experience with mass spectrometry, LC/MS, GC/MS, chromatography, proteomics, biopharma workflows, analytical science, or scientific instrumentation software.
  • Preferred experience with feature detection, peak identification, signal processing, quantitative analysis, visualization, chemometrics, or scientific workflow automation.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled development tools, agent-based tools, or applied machine learning for scientific data analysis or software development is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with scientists, application specialists, customers, or cross-functional product development teams is preferred.
  • Experience with commercial products, regulated scientific software, or laboratory software is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, curiosity, communication, and ability to address ambiguous scientific and technical challenges.

Benefits

  • Full-time day-shift position with occasional travel and no stated end date.
  • Pay range of $140,160.00-$219,000.00 per year, plus eligibility for bonus, stock, and benefits.
