Responsibilities
- Lead global deployment, modernization, configuration, maintenance, and support of plant-floor and control-room software applications.
- Build full-stack application environments and automate repeatable deployment, integration, and testing activities.
- Deploy and maintain software on shop-floor IT infrastructure, including virtual servers, clustered servers, networks, and plant data-center environments.
- Design and implement generative AI, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, forecasting, and natural-language interfaces for manufacturing data.
- Integrate GE Digital CIMPLICITY, OPC UA/DA, PLCs, robots, MES systems, Kepware, and related industrial data flows.
- Establish validation, testing, security, traceability, monitoring, and human-review practices for AI-generated scripts and recommendations.
- Coordinate plant testing, data-quality validation, application troubleshooting, launches, and integrations with upstream and downstream systems.
- Develop and maintain software, deployment automation, test automation, supporting tools, technical documentation, and production-readiness practices.
- Monitor uptime, performance, data quality, AI effectiveness, and reliability, and remediate operational issues.
- Review pull requests and collaborate with development, infrastructure, support, project management, plant operations, and business teams.
- Travel to plant locations and work during plant downtime, including possible weekends, second shifts, third shifts, and holidays.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience integrating applications with industrial PLCs, robots, automation equipment, or similar systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience deploying and maintaining control-room or manufacturing applications on shop-floor IT infrastructure.
- Experience with industrial protocols, PLCs, manufacturing equipment, plant-floor data integration, and diagnosing issues across application, infrastructure, network, database, and industrial systems.
- Experience designing, integrating, or operationalizing AI/ML solutions, including generative AI, large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, or AI-assisted software development.
- Experience developing or applying predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, forecasting, or other manufacturing analytics models.
- Experience creating natural-language or conversational interfaces for operational, manufacturing, or time-series data.
- Experience implementing AI safeguards such as validation, access control, data protection, explainability, monitoring, and human-in-the-loop review.
- Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or comparable relational and time-series technologies; Tomcat, IIS, or comparable web application servers; server provisioning; virtual machines; networking; clustered servers; and plant data centers.
- Experience with Linux, UNIX, Windows Server, cloud technologies, Cursor, Confluence, ServiceNow, GitHub, Fortify, SonarLint or SonarQube, Artifactory, and JIRA.
- Strong .NET/C# development and Python or PowerShell scripting skills for deployment, integration, and test automation.
- Experience with Agile software teams, code review, automated testing, enterprise security concepts, and implementation.
- Kepware experience, including configuring an IoT Gateway, importing tags, supporting automatic tag generation, and connecting PLCs to upper-level applications.
- Preferred qualifications include GE Digital CIMPLICITY, SCADA, OPC UA/DA, PLC-to-MES integration, manufacturing or operational technology experience, production AI/ML deployment, MLOps, LLMOps, time-series data, industrial historians, digital twins, enterprise LLM platforms, vector databases, and retrieval-augmented generation architectures.
