Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Analyze CPU, DRAM, GPU, storage, I/O, and networking layers to identify optimization opportunities.
- Lead rigorous performance investigations, establish root causes, and produce actionable findings.
- Build proof-of-concept solutions such as memory compression, smart over-subscription, and language-level rewrites.
- Develop repeatable optimization patterns, playbooks, profiling tools, and automated optimization agents.
- Quantify capacity, financial, and customer-experience impact at Amazon scale.
- Collaborate across organizational boundaries and communicate technical findings to senior leadership.
- Help shape the mission, methods, and culture of Amazon’s Efficiency Red Team.
Requirements
- Seven or more years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- Seven or more years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
- Five or more years leading the design or architecture of new and existing systems.
- Experience mentoring, serving as a tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
- Seven or more years of professional experience in systems programming, performance engineering, or infrastructure optimization.
- Deep proficiency in at least one of C, C++, Rust, or Java.
- Hands-on experience with performance profiling and analysis tools.
- Experience conducting root-cause analysis across CPU, memory, storage, and networking layers.
- A record of delivering measurable performance improvements in production systems at scale.
- Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent, GPU profiling and optimization experience, familiarity with generative AI infrastructure, language-runtime internals, capacity planning or fleet management, and open-source or published systems-performance work.

- Base salary varies by location from $168,100.00 to $261,500.00 annually, with sign-on payments and restricted stock units.
