Base Salary
$240k - $330k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead research and development of search-based, geometry-based, and probabilistic motion-planning algorithms for autonomous driving.
- Lead cross-functional projects defining or upgrading system interfaces and technical solutions.
- Monitor system performance, identify deficiencies, and develop technical strategies for improvement.
- Architect, integrate, evaluate, and refine motion-planning and prediction algorithms for real-world deployment.
- Design and build robust, scalable, high-performance software for prototyping and evaluating motion-planning approaches.
- Collaborate with perception, prediction, trajectory optimization, tracking, and control teams to ensure end-to-end system performance.
- Guide technical development and teach software engineering practices and principles.
- Mentor junior and senior team members while fostering research and product-focused engineering excellence.
Requirements
- PhD preferred in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or a master's degree with 7+ years of robotics experience.
- 10+ years of research experience in robotics or motion planning, with contributions to state-of-the-art solutions and leadership of significant projects.
- 5+ years of C++ software development experience focused on high-performance and reliable systems.
- Experience owning complex technical features from formulation and research through implementation and production deployment.
- Demonstrated technical thought leadership, continuous innovation, and significant impact in autonomous driving or related robotics work.
- Preferred experience with probabilistic models such as Gaussian mixture models, Hidden Markov Models, and Particle Filters.
- Preferred experience with Bayesian modeling, inference techniques, and machine learning for decision-making under uncertainty.
- Preferred experience with the Bazel build framework.
