Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of features and products for the BuildOS design platform.
- Architect and develop computational geometry algorithms for ICON’s 3D printing technology.
- Build and maintain tools for visualizing, instrumenting, and debugging the 3D printing process.
- Develop path-planning algorithms from architectural plans in collaboration with architects, structural engineers, and building scientists.
- Work with R&D engineers to improve print quality across ICON devices and materials.
- Create integrations with third-party CAD and CAM software.
- Develop BIM automation tools to streamline architectural workflows and extract design intelligence from building models.
- Lead prototyping of AI-driven approaches for generative design, design optimization, and construction-planning automation.
- Build systems connecting architectural intent with manufacturing constraints through computational design.
- Drive technical standards and best practices for computational geometry systems.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
- Experience building platforms, microservices, and APIs at scale and architecting complex systems.
- Strong technical decision-making, requirements analysis, stakeholder collaboration, and communication skills.
- Experience mentoring other engineers and contributing to team growth.
- Strong Node.js and TypeScript experience preferred.
- Deep knowledge of geometry, linear algebra, numerical analysis, advanced 3D mathematics, and physical systems preferred.
- Experience with BIM platforms such as Revit, Rhino, and Grasshopper and their APIs preferred.
- Experience with computational design, algorithmic architecture, design automation, CAD/CAM APIs, parametric modeling, or geometric kernel libraries preferred.
- Familiarity with AI/ML applications in design, generative modeling, or optimization preferred.
- Experience with React, Redux, RxJS, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, GitHub, Jenkins, Travis, CGAL, or Open CASCADE preferred.
- An advanced degree in computer science is preferred.
